According to analysis with Kingsrow, Newcomb played a brilliant game, punishing an opening inaccuracy on move 6 and finding a number of “only moves” on his way to victory. Who was H. Newcomb? According to a post by Alex Moiseyev on another forum, citing information provided by Richard Beckwith, there was an H. O. Newcomb who was Ohio state champion six times between 1908 and 1917; I assume that is the same Newcomb. Is any further information about this gentleman available anywhere?
